Hi, I’m Amanda.
I have been working with clients in Fairfield County, CT on parenting from infants through adulthood since 2005.
Parenting can be wonderful. It can also be really hard.
You love your children. And sometimes, parenting feels like more than you know how to handle.
Maybe you are constantly wondering if you are doing the right thing. You worry about your child, second-guess your decisions, lose your patience, and then feel guilty about it afterward. You may spend so much time thinking about what your child needs that you have stopped paying attention to what you need.
And the advice is everywhere. Be more patient. Set better boundaries. Don't yell. Give them independence, but not too much. Make memories. Enjoy every minute.
It’s an impossible standard.
You might be struggling with:
Feeling overwhelmed or overstimulated by the constant demands of parenting.
Worrying about your child's behavior, emotions, friendships, school, or future.
Losing your patience and feeling guilty afterward.
Disagreeing with your partner or co-parent about how to handle things.
Trying to balance parenting with work, relationships, and everything else in your life.
Navigating a new stage of parenting and realizing that what used to work isn't working anymore.
Feeling like other parents have it figured out while you are struggling behind the scenes.
Wondering whether you are doing enough—or whether you are getting it right.
You don't have to be a perfect parent to be a good one.
Therapy can give you a place to talk honestly about parenting without worrying about being judged. You can love your children deeply and still feel frustrated, exhausted, worried, angry, or unsure. Those things can exist at the same time.
Our work together isn't about telling you how to parent. It's about helping you understand what's happening in your family, recognize patterns that may not be working anymore, and find ways to respond that feel more manageable and more consistent with the kind of parent you want to be.
We can work on anxiety, parenting stress, boundaries, understanding development within your child, communication, family and relationship changes, managing your own reactions, and finding ways to stay connected to yourself while caring for your children.
Sometimes the best thing you can do for your family is make sure there is space to take care of you, too.
If parenting feels heavier than you expected, I'd love to help. Schedule an appointment with me and let's figure out what you need—not just as a parent, but as a person.
